General Surgery for Dogs and Cats in Howell, MI
Town Center Veterinary Associates is equipped with cutting edge surgical suites and skilled veterinarians who perform a wide range of general surgical procedures. Our modern surgical suite is equipped with the latest patient monitoring equipment to ensure the health and safety of your pet.
Prior to surgery, our veterinarians will perform thorough examination and conduct a pre-anesthetic blood test to evaluate the function of the internal organs. After examination, anesthetic drugs are individually selected for your pet based on the procedure, their age, breed, and health, and lifestyle.
Surgeries performed at Town Center Veterinary Associates include:
- Oral surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
- Abdominal surgery
- Urinary tract surgery
- Cesarean section
- Growth removal
- Laceration repair
- Emergency surgery (foreign object retrieval, wound repair)
Before surgery, your pet will be carefully screened and anesthetics will be hand-selected based on your pet’s breed, age, and health. Blood tests will also be done before anesthesia is administered to confirm that your pet’s liver, heart, and kidneys are functioning properly and that your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia.
During the surgery, a medically trained staff member will monitor your pet’s vitals. Their main priority is to ensure that your pet’s blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm, respiratory functions, body temperature, and oxygen levels are within a normal range.
We believe that it’s important to communicate with our clients throughout the entire process. Our staff will ensure that we have up to date contact information to keep you fully informed about your pet’s surgery, progress, and recovery. If required, the comprehensive pain management plan may include pain medication to be administered at home to keep them as comfortable as possible. Our staff will provide post-operative care instructions, and we will explain everything you need to know to care for your pet at home.
Please speak with one of our staff members if you have any specific questions regarding your pet’s surgery or post-operative care.
